Jobs…

March 31, 2009

Jobs…we all want one, but it is hard to achieve when you have no experience.  I had that difficulty. I went everywhere… Wal-mart, Blockbuster, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, JC Penney’s, Belk, Old Navy, Dress Barn, Food City, Best Buy, CVS, Walgreens, even Circuit City before it went down. Every store including one of the local hospitals that held a position that did not require a license of any kind…except fast food. I wouldn’t dare do it, because I was dearly afraid of screwing up by getting orders wrong…

Well, I had an interview at Bed, Bath & Beyond and didn’t get hired there. I’m not sure why… because I was suppose to get hired at the 1st of the year, but I believe they found other people they found to be better than me. I was called for an interview at Steinmart, but had to refuse it due to insufficient amounts of gas. What ticked me off that very evening was that my mother-in-law gave us some money for gas… I would have felt better if it had never happened.

I finally gave in and told Robert I would work at a fast food restaurant, but on one condition I would only work at his.  Well, needless to say I filled out an application online and his manager called me in for an interview and voila job. After constant nagging on his part and one of the assistant managers there. I wasn’t able to start until later on in March. So…

I currently have a job at a local fast food chain and I have no problem with it. I’ve been doing fairly well. Speed is mostly key though. That is what they are known for so I’ve been trying my best at improving my speed so I can keep up and not fall behind when we are in a rush.

Another thing that is on the bright side is that I have an interview on April 1st for the CNA training program at the hospital here. I hope I get that because it will be $1.45 more than what I earn at the fast food place and health insurance for both me and Robert, but that will only happen if I get through the training. The training will start on April 27th and will last for 1 month and will be at the times of 5-9 on weekdays. I will get paid during the training at $7, but still no health insurance. I will have to get the assistant manager that helped me get in there to play with my schedule a lot. But that is if the interview is a success…if it is not then I can go for the Phlebotomist. The course for that is three weeks and the pay is $9-10 an hour I believe along with the same heath insurance if I work for the same hospital which will be a relief on my end for several reason I will explain in another entry.
